Is it 2004? Moto just released a super embarrassing rap song

Here's what to expect from Apple's WWDC 2021

In trying to remain relevant, Moto -- the tech company that brought us the beautiful Razr -- did something super awkward and embarrassing instead.

Moto, formerly known as Motorola, decided it would be super cool and totally hip to create a rap song and accompanying lyric video summarizing its company history.

*face palms for dayssssss*

In case you didn't know, April 3rd, 1973 was the world's first call from a mobile phone, made by Motorola engineers. And to celebrate the 40th anniversary, the company knew they had to do something BIG.

Putting a pin in innovation for a sec, the world of mobile devices has recently gone in a new direction: nostalgia. So, with that trend in mind, it appears that when Moto decided to return to the days when amateur raps were kinda alright and cheesy, word-art videos were hot AF.

Still, that confusing logic is no excuse for the awkward, embarrassing mess you're about to be exposed to.

The song and 56-second video shows Moto channeling everything it knows about rap to tell the history of its mobile devices.

Though there's no denying the horrible rhymes, according to Phandroid, the video may have one bright spot. Apparently, pausing at the two second mark could offer you a glimpse of new Moto phone that hasn't yet been released.

And hey, this is bad, but Moto definitely isn't alone in its embarrassing attempts at being cool. We still haven't recovered from this painfully long Samsung commercial feat. a band comprised of one repeating kid.

Maybe just try... less hard next time and see how that works.
